Sell vs Cook
Compare what you would get from selling an item raw against cooking it first — using the values your game actually shows.
What it compares
The calculator answers one question: is this item worth more sold raw, or cooked first? It compares the raw sale value you enter with the cooked result minus the ingredient costs you enter.
Where the numbers come from
All values come from you. XD has not published official prices for items, ingredients or dishes, so the tool never assumes a market price. Enter what your in-game shop or selling interface shows for your current version — that is the only reliable source.
How the comparison works
- Enter the item and its raw sale value.
- Enter the dish it cooks into and that dish's value.
- Optionally list the ingredients it uses with their values, so the net is: cooked value minus ingredient costs.
- The tool shows both sides side by side and which one wins — based only on the numbers you entered.
When the answer is withheld
If a value is missing (for example you do not know the cooked value), the tool says it needs that number instead of guessing. The same rule applies to the money-making guide: no invented rates.
Methodology & assumptions
The calculator does the arithmetic on your inputs; it does not know time costs, energy costs or supply differences. Treat the result as a quick check, not a full economy model.
FAQ
Common questions about this topic.
Why does the tool ask me for prices?
Because official prices are not published. Any pre-filled number would be an invention — entering your own keeps the result honest.
What if I don't know the cooked value?
Leave it empty and the tool will withhold the verdict rather than guess. Skill and unlock rules for recipes are also unpublished.
Does it include energy or time costs?
No. The tool compares item values only; energy and time are not officially published and no hidden weights are added.
